Goldendoodle Grooming

Goldendoodles are the breed I groom most at Kay's Groom Room, and every one is different — F1 wavy, F1B curly, soft teddy coats, dense Poodle curl. What they all share is a coat that mats fast when the schedule slips. A typical Goldendoodle appointment runs 90–180 minutes with pricing from $95 to $150 depending on size and coat condition. I line-brush before the bath, fluff-dry on a stand dryer to lift the curl, and hand-scissor the face and feet. Every session is one-on-one in a calm, in-home setting in Seagoville, TX — no other dogs, no rushing. On a 4–6 week cycle the groom stays affordable and your Doodle stays comfortable. We groom Goldendoodles from Seagoville, Mesquite, Balch Springs, Kaufman, Forney, and the greater Dallas area.

What a typical Goldendoodle session looks like

  1. 1Arrival and a 5-minute settle on the table before any tools come out
  2. 2Full line-brush and honest mat-level assessment
  3. 3Warm bath with coat-matched shampoo and a double conditioner rinse
  4. 4Fluff-dry on a stand dryer to lift and separate the curl
  5. 5Body clip to your requested length + hand-scissor face, feet, and tail
  6. 6Nail trim, ear clean, paw pad shave, and a blueberry facial finish

At-home routine between grooms

  • Line-brush 3–5 minutes daily — slicker brush first, then a metal comb all the way to the skin
  • Check behind ears, under collar, and in armpits twice a week for starting mats
  • Clean ears weekly with a vet-approved ear wash — Doodle ear canals trap moisture
  • If you can see paw pad fur peeking out, trim it between grooms to prevent slipping

Doodles are my specialty. A brush-out at home between appointments keeps the groom cheaper and your pup more comfortable — I can show you the right line-brushing technique at drop-off.

Goldendoodle grooming — FAQs

Every 4–6 weeks is the sweet spot for a maintained coat. Going longer almost always means more matting, a shorter cut than you wanted, and a higher fee. I'd rather see your Doodle on schedule at a comfortable length than fight a matted coat every visit.
